Liliana Asta is a singer and songwriter from rural Illinois. She has had music running through her veins as long as she can remember, one of her formative experiences being singing along with her dad as he strummed his guitar. Liliana wrote her first original song at just eight years old, and by the time she turned nine, she’d gotten her first ukulele. She eventually picked up the guitar, which she has been working on incorporating more and more into her performances.
If you asked Liliana why she’s so in love with music, she’d probably tell you that it expresses the things that words alone simply cannot. As someone who is always either making, playing, listening, or thinking about music, Liliana believes it is a lifeline to everything good and worthwhile. She will always be committed to connecting with both others and herself on a deep level through her music.
Liliana’s first live performance was at age 12 for a public online audience for the Galena Center for the Arts. Today, she continues to perform at local venues, festivals, and private events. In addition to high school academics and extracurricular activities, she is working on making and publishing new music. Liliana plays trombone in her high school concert and jazz bands, and is in the Dubuque Symphony Youth Orchestra (DSYO). She is also an avid theatre lover and actor! In February 2025, she was selected for the ILMEA All-State Honors Chorus.
Though she believes genre is a bit of a blurry concept, she would best describe her original music as indie folk-pop. Some of her biggest influences are Fleetwood Mac, Conan Gray, the Beatles, Boygenius, Frank Ocean, Lorde, and Faye Webster.
